Method
Each category has a fixed test set: the same prompts, the same input files, the same settings for every tool and model we grade. A score means the same thing on every page.
The sample you see is the sample the model returned, with the prompt that produced it. Nothing is cherry-picked from a vendor gallery, and the uncertain results are shown too.
Every ranking shows the weight of each dimension. The total is the weighted mean of the scores on the page, so you can re-weight it for your own priorities.
Every review names where the tool fails, with evidence, and what we could not settle. Every verdict says who should not choose it. That is the part most reviews leave out.
Test sets, the anchored scale, dimensions per modality, weights, re-testing policy and conflicts of interest, on one page.
GenGrades is an independent review site for generative AI tools and models. It grades image, video, audio, music and language models and the products built on them, using one fixed test set per category and a 0 to 10 scale with public weights.
A score is the weighted mean of dimension scores on a 0 to 10 scale, where each dimension has its own test set and anchored rubric. The weights are set per category and shown on the category page, so any total can be recomputed from the page.
Yes. Every sample on a review is an output we generated with the prompt shown next to it, published as returned apart from a watermark. We do not use vendor marketing images as evidence.
No. Grades are not for sale and are never changed for a vendor. Where a link to a tool is an affiliate link it is marked, and it has no effect on the score or on who ranks where.
